Top Three Places to Visit in North Liberty
We’re biased, but we think North Liberty is a great place to visit. It has all the joys of being a small town, and is just 20 minutes away from South Bend if you prefer to spend a day or two in a larger city.
As long time members of the community, here are a few of our favorite spots in North Liberty.
Potato Creek State Park
By far our favorite place to visit is Potato Creek State Park. Potato Creek offers fishing, canoe rentals, bike trails, cabins, and a beautiful campground where you can spend a few days getting reconnected with your friends and family. Even some locals will go spend a weekend there just to disconnect from the constant buzz of our phones.
Potato Creek state park is fantastic if you love to get outdoors. The bike trails are the best in the area. If you don’t want to bike off road, there are many paved trails perfect for biking or just taking a stroll with your family. There’s also a beautiful nature center where you can find out more about the wildlife in the area and see a history of the park and how it came into existence.
If the cold weather is more your style, there are plenty of things to do throughout the cold winter months. During the winter you can also participate in cross-country skiing on many of the trails and the lake makes a great place to hone your ice fishing skills.
Yum-Yum Shoppe
As you walk around town, be sure to stop by the Yum Yum Shoppe. It’s one favorite place to grab an ice-cream cone, a hot-dog, or a rootbeer float. The food is delicious and the people are incredibly nice. It’s a great place to stop in, spend a few minutes meeting people from the town and enjoy a nice treat.
Bob’s Country Store
Should you decide to do any cooking while you’re in town, visit Bob’s Country Store. Bob’s is the best place to get all the ingredients you need to cook an awesome meal. Bob is also famous for his incredible variety and quality of meats. If you want to get a nice steak or even some brats or burgers to cook out on the grill, Bob’s is the place to go.
